General:
Generally food tasted very fresh as
they were made with fresh ingredients: their main competitive advantage.
However, nothing really tasted specials. It is a place to go if you
want something healthier yet decent. Pricing commensurates with the
better ingredients and recycled packaging materials.
Flat bread: freshly baked but purchased. Not included in the average rating since outsourced.
Fried Chick Peas: lightly breaded fried chick peas, sprinkled with salt and garnished with cilantro. Too much salt, way too salty, but maybe just this incident. What was I thinking ordering this? I don't like chick peas to begin with, anyway. One star, but I did not included in the average rating since I dislike chick peas (duh!). Silly me.
Greek Steak Wrap: grilled steak cubes, spring greens, onion, tomato, green pepper, artichoke, garbanzo bean, sliced olive. Yoghurt based tzatziki sauce with a dominantly sour taste profile. Wrap had a good chewy consistency. However, steak was quite lean thus tough. 3+ stars.
Fried Green Tomato: green tomato tasted very fresh and has a great texture, naturally sour. Breading was medium thick, about what you would expect from fried oyster. Sauce was based on grilled tomatillo as well with a nice earthiness. From my taste bud, sauce was grilled tomatillo blended with cilantro and tzatziki sauce. Taste profile was mainly sweet and sour with a strong garlic and cilantro overtone. Not too crazy about the breading but the sauce was very good. 4 stars.
Green Pork Stew: over a bed of brown rice. Cilantro, julienne carrot and onion garnishes. I was expecting a Southwest style stew ("authentic green chili sauce" on the menu didn't explain anything), but I tasted a hint of coconut milk, which was stewed with grilled tomatillo. Pork was also on the lean side thus a bit tough. Still quite interesting and filling, though. 4 stars
An average of 3.75
PS: check your order to see if it is correct. Pineapple Berry Lemonade is better than Ginger Lime Lemonade. Both are freshly made so you need to shake your glass to get a uniform consistency.
